A Throne for Avengers And Damn I Wish I Could Draw

I know it’s been sorta official for a while now, but Tumblr has exploded with Avengers gifs, pictures, quotes, etc. More specifically, it has exploded years worth of Tom Hiddleston paraphernalia, all of which I (no regrets) have been hoarding in my own personal Tom library. I mean, he’s no Chris Hemsworth, who I find just adoring by the way. Still, the man is quite charming, and he is just a brilliant actor.

Anyway, this is a sip of what I have stored away.

Aren’t they both just so lovely? I fan-girled and bought posters of both of them…anyway. You know I didn’t actually fall completely for Tom until I read this:

“TOM HIDDLESTON: Mark Ruffalo’s son. I kind of dedicate my performance to his son, his ten-year old, because he was on set a lot.  Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige, the producer, they were enormously supportive on set.  They were very complimentary when they liked something that I was doing.  I would do a take, and they would say, “Awesome.  You got it.  Let’s — “  And Kevin Feige would be like, “God, that was great.  Let’s move on.”  And you get on with the day.  The days that Mark’s son was there, he was like, “Awesome job, Tom. We got it.  Let’s move on.”  Kevin would say the same thing, and then Mark’s son would say, “Oh, my God!  Tom!  That was incredible!  That was the most awesome thing I have ever seen!”  And I’m like, “I am doing this for you.”  And, you know, there were days when Mark would come in with him just to watch, because he wanted to watch.  He’d be like, “I’m sorry.  We’re here again.  He just loves you.”  And then you realize that that’s the power that these films can have.

It’s such a beautiful thing.  It’s a really amazing privilege.”

Isn’t that just melt worthy? Well, whatever, I think it is. I also stumbled across some Game of Thrones junk.

I’m sorry. You can smash my face into the bathroom mirror later, if you like. But first, some art that I admire.

I just love Deviantart artists. That last one, oh how I love her stuff…more or less the Labyrinth stuff. It’s a fetish, I’ll admit it. Here’s the fanfic (which is surprisingly hilarious and totally M rated) that accompanies the picture. It’s very well written.

You might wanna check out the pictures first, just so you know where the plot is coming from.

And I would just like to mention, that this whole Wonder Woman/Batman thing in the animated Justice League series…it’s totally legit. I mean, can we just take a moment and observe that sly expression on her face? She just kissed him, after he went frantic over trying to rescue her from a pile of rubble. Does that not scream potential relationship?

Shut up. I know I’m lame. Anyway, ignore the large expanse of white space up there. I was too lazy to edit the screen capture of my desktop. I also don’t understand the weird text after my Tom rant. Let’s just pretend I’m perfect.

Ha! I learned how to fix it! Ten points to…you know, I don’t care to admit what House I’ve been sorted into on Pottermore.

Five Great FanFics

I think I might’ve mentioned this, but I read a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean too much. People say that you can never read too much, but that’s total bullshit. Reading can be a disease, taking over your life until all you do is sit in a corner day after day until your eyes begin to roll back into your skull and you fall out of your comfy-chair in convulsions.

The melodramatic is just too delicious to pass up.

Anyway, many of my fictional journeys have been in the company of fanfiction. I don’t want to admit how much I’ve actually read, but let’s just leave it at too much…again. I’ve come across a few that are particularly amazing, and while they have a handful of hiccups, they’re absolutely worth the read.  I’m not going to list all of my favorites, but I figure I’ll at least throw five out to you.

Warning: Most of these contain at least a dash of romance.

  1. Nowhere to Remain
: Obi-Wan was the perfect Jedi Knight: dignified, detached, possessing an almost courtly sense of propriety. But you would be wrong, if you thought he never loved – in secret, in his heart, he loved a love to move the stars. Sabe/Obi-Wan.
    (Star Wars – Rated: T – English – Drama/Romance – Chapters: 16 – Words: 56,771 – Reviews: 62 – Updated: 5-27-11 – Published: 7-19-08 – Obi-Wan K. & Handmaidens – Complete)

Review: This is one of those fic’s that could have actually happened. Carryon14 captures the characters of Star Wars and that of her own take on Sabe perfectly, and when I say perfectly, I mean it. She paints Sabe in all sorts of colors that, in the movies, she was totally without (but she was a side-character, so what do you expect?). She’s portrayed as strong-willed, particularly wise, and utterly adorable handmaiden. The plot doesn’t revolve around romance, but hints at it a few times in between the major events that play out in the first movie. The ending, while somber, is realistic and relatively happy.Link: Nowhere to Remain

  2. All My Heroes
Summary: After collecting a bounty, Boba Fett is confronted with the only person to ever stow away aboard Slave I, and soon is caught up in much more than he bargained for… Pre Ep. IV.
    (Star Wars – Rated: T – English – Sci-Fi/Adventure – Chapters: 12 – Words: 39,105 – Reviews: 82 – Updated: 4-16-10 – Published: 1-11-10 – Boba Fett – Complete)

Review: Unlike the others, this has no romance whatsoever. This, just like NTR, captures the Star Wars characters very well, though the only one of worthy mention is Boba Fett. The plot involves a little girl who’s running from the Empire because of who her parents are, and ends up forming a rather interesting and realistic bond with the bounty hunter. The fic is pretty short, there are 3 short but engaging climaxes, and the ending is perfect. I’m a total sucker for Fett, so any Boba Fett lovers should definitely read this.Link: All My Heroes

  3. Once Upon a Time
Summary: Wolves in human skin. A Beast and a lost maiden. A sanctuary in an oncoming storm. A prince of Elven blood. Sacrifices, debts, honor, and oaths. Ten long, beautiful years, and all the stories that fall within them.
    (Hellboy – Rated: M – English – Romance/Fantasy – Chapters: 50 – Words: 570,048 – Reviews: 436 – Updated: 12-24-11 – Published: 6-23-09 – Prince Nuada)

Review: Holy shit, this fic is long. It is reallylong…but worth it, especially if you’re into detail-overloads and dark romance. The plot is deeper than Dostoevsky, the characters LA Knight has created are spectacular and uber creative, and often overlooked, this story actually takes time for small interactions that develop the characters and their relationships. LA Knight takes extreme care in establishing Nuada and the OC’s feelings for each other, as well as listing all the references at the end of each chapter. She uses a butt-ton of fairytale-related references, including both folktales and modern novels (such as Tithe by Holly Black), so expect to get a lesson in Lore-101.  Some criticism: sometimes the descriptions become repetitive and overplayed, as do the emotions that simmer between the OC and Nuada. There is some aspect of religion, which is strangely refreshing at times, that might irritate some readers, depending on your own sensitivity.Link: Once Upon a Time

  4. Vespertine
Summary: Two enemies strike a bargain to save what they both hold dear. He will reveal a truth that shakes her beliefs, drawing her into a web of lies and betrayal. She will offer the redemption for which he never hoped and show him how to be human again. ItaSaku.
    (Naruto – Rated: M – English – Drama/Romance – Chapters: 15 – Words: 125,064 – Reviews: 1910 – Updated: 2-22-10 – Published: 3-25-09 – Itachi U. & Sakura H. – Complete)

Review: You know, the only fics I would read were ones with OCs until I read this. It’s all romance, but very real romance. It’s really surprising how well Cynchick captured Itachi’s personality, as is how she developed the plot out of completely believable circumstances. This is by far the best romance for any anime fic I’ve ever read: the writing is mature as are the facets of the preexisting characters Cynchick reveals. Just check out her bio, it basically screams BAMF.Link: Vespertine

  5. Silver Lining
Summary: Sequel to Perception. Eight years ago they said goodbye forever. Now, when they have both lost everything, fate has thrown them together again in the most unlikely of ways. DeiSaku.
    (Naruto – Rated: M – English – Romance/Drama – Chapters: 15 – Words: 126,010 – Reviews: 1368 – Updated: 2-19-08 – Published: 10-5-07 – Deidara & Sakura H. – Complete)

Review: I didn’t like the prequel to this (Perception). You gotta read it to understand this sequel, and while I like the way she portrays both Sakura and Deidara (and especially Kisame) in this, I really didn’t like her Itachi. It was to be expected that he was characterized the way he was considering where she lead the plot, but the first installment just isn’t one of my favorites. However, Silver Liningis a fun read, I didn’t stop until I finished with the epilogue. I sorta get the feeling that Cynchick is the Nora Roberts of Fanfiction, minus the overwhelming amount of smut Roberts usually plops into most of her books (though, there is some sexual content). Well, there is this one series by her that’s completely awesome…but I’ll save that for another post.Link:

Anyway, that’s it for now. There’s only so much blogging I can do before my ass starts to go numb.
